Land Pride sits among Bush Hog and Woods as some of the best tractor implement brands. They all three make excellent rotary cutters.
Land Pride is a brand that should be high on your list when shopping for a brush hog, especially if you’re buying a new Kubota tractor.
Now that Kubota owns the Land Pride brand, you can often get a discount on Land Pride implements with a new Kubota purchase. You can also finance your brush hog into your tractor purchase.
9 Reasons To Buy A Land Pride Rotary Cutter
Below are most of the reasons why I chose to go with a Land Pride rotary cutter for my new Kubota tractor.
- Reputation
- Selection
- Good Stump Jumper
- Financing
- Discounts
- Dealer Availability
- Quick Hitch Compatible
- Floating Top Link
- Overall Build Quality
1. The Land Pride Brand Has A Solid Reputation
Kubota, which is one of the most reputable tractor brands, purchased the Land Pride brand in 2016.
If you visit a Kubota dealership, it will typically be covered up with Land Pride implements. Both brands are rock solid in the tractor industry.

While there are likely some decent newer brands on the market, Land Pride, along with Bush Hog and Woods have great reputations going back a number of years. For most people, these 3 brands are usually the top choices when shopping for rotary cutters.
2. Land Pride Has Whatever You Need
As with most implement manufacturers, Land Pride offers various classifications for their implements.
Land Pride’s chosen terminology for rotary cutters seems to fall into 4 categories – “economical”, “light-duty”, “heavy-duty” and “brute”.
Within each of their implement categories, Land Pride usually has multiple selections within each of them. Because my site focuses more on compact tractor owners, my emphasis here is more around the two cheaper tiers in the lineup.
Land Pride rotary cutter classifications from cheapest to most expensive
Classification | Cutting Capacity |
---|---|
economical | 1" |
light-duty *** | 2" |
heavy-duty | 3" |
brute | 4" |
When it comes to classifying their own implements, if anything, Land Pride understates the quality of their machines.
3. Land Pride Cutters Have Good Stump Jumpers

Not all rotary cutters have stump jumpers, so make sure your choose one that does.
A stump jumper is a dish shaped metal plate that the blades are attached to.
A stump jumper allows the cutting mechanism to ride up and over obstacles, such as hidden stumps, rather than slamming directly into them. This helps to prevent damage to your machine when accidentally running into unseen obstacles.
Both the RCR12 and RCR18 series of cutters have sturdy 10 gauge round stump jumpers, as do many others within the Land Pride lineup.
4. Kubota Let’s You Finance Implements Into The Tractor Purchase

When purchasing a new Kubota tractor, they let you finance Land Pride implements into the purchase price. This is one of the reasons I chose to go with Land Pride. Zero percent financing, combined with a discount on the cutter were too hard to turn down.
5. Kubota Offers Implement Discounts
When I purchased my Kubota tractor they were running a deal where the 2nd and 3rd implement was discounted. The front loader counts as the first implement, so the cutter was eligible for the second implement discount. With this discount, it made a lot of sense for me to go with a Land Pride cutter. Kubota regularly runs specials like this.
6. Nearby Dealer
One factor that will play into your decision is if you even have a Land Pride dealer nearby. If not, I would look at some of the other quality brands, such as Bush Hog or Woods.
7. Quick Hitch Compatible
Many of Land Pride’s rotary cutters are quick hitch compatible. This is a really nice feature if you plan to regularly swap between implements.
8. Floating Top Link

A floating top link allows the rotary cutter to follow the contours of the land, resulting in a more even cut, especially on rough terrain. Floating top links, as indicated by the top arrow, are a really nice feature found on many models of Land Pride cutters.
9. Build Quality
The level of construction obviously varies between the different tiers within any implement lineup, but generally speaking, the build quality of Land Pride exceeds many other brands within a given tier.
Some Other Nice Features And Options
Slip Clutch
On even the lower tier Land Pride models you can often choose between either a shear bolt design or a slip clutch option.
I would not recommend the shear bolt for most people, but it’s really a personal preference.
In my opinion, and many others, it’s well worth the extra money to upgrade to a slip clutch.
Rubber Or Chain Guards
Land Pride often offers either rubber guards or chains on their rotary cutters to slow down debris shooting out from under the deck. You get to choose your preference. Chains last much longer, but are more expensive. Rubber is cheaper but works ok.
Warranty
Land Pride has a good warranty, but you’ll have to look up specific warranty information per model. To give you an idea, my RCR1860 medium duty cutter has the following warranty, which I would think is pretty standard. In comparison, the lightest weight RCR1260 model only has a 3 year warranty on the gearbox.
RCR1860 Warranty
- 1 yr parts and labor on the overall unit and driveline
- 5 yrs parts and labor on the gearbox
Conclusion
Land Pride is a very reputable brand for rotary cutters. They have a great selection to choose from within a variety of tiered price ranges.
Even Land Pride’s very lowest priced models are still really good implements, as long as you use them within their stated limits. I personally think Land Pride stacks up well with the absolute best rotary cutter brands on the market, such as Woods and Bush Hog.
You’ll find some nice standard features on Land Pride cutters that aren’t found on lesser brands. One such example is a floating top link.
I don’t think you can go wrong in choosing to go with Land Pride, particularly with their higher end models.
Good luck with your purchase!
